What each one watches

Red tide
The worst level reported at the beaches near the island, in either direction. A note goes out when that level changes, and then nothing for at least twelve hours.

The bridge
The A1A route on and off the island. A note goes out when the route closes or backs up, and again when it clears. A closure goes out within a few minutes; anything else waits at least forty-five minutes after the last note. A brief slowdown does not send one.

Rip currents
The rip current risk for the beaches as the National Weather Service sets it, Low, Moderate or High, updated through the day. A note goes out when the category changes, either direction. A rise to High goes out within a few minutes; anything else waits six hours after the last note, and nothing goes out before seven in the morning.
A note about High says High in the line. So does a return to Low.

Once a day, late morning, if the index reaches High or worse. A day that never gets there gets no note.

How it works
There is no account, and nothing to download from a store. Your browser holds the subscription and this site sends to it. Turn any of them off on this page, or in the browser's own notification settings.
What arrives
A phone that shows pictures with its notifications draws the subject's card under the line. An iPhone shows the title and the line.
