Before you call

The next thing to ask is where the truck starts from. Eight are based in the county, in Yulee, in Callahan and on the island itself, and four run Amelia Island as service territory out of Jacksonville and the beaches. For a maintenance visit that is nothing. For a house sitting at eighty-four degrees it is the whole answer.

Five of the twelve are not only AC houses, which is worth knowing when a hot week turns up a second problem. Two of them run electrical and plumbing under the same roof, one repairs household appliances as well, one carries the plumbing side, and one does commercial refrigeration and restaurant kitchen equipment, which is the one to call if the trouble is a walk-in cooler rather than a bedroom.
