Spas, massage and yoga on Amelia Island

Some of the yoga here happens on the sand rather than in a room. That is the part people come for, and the weather can take it away, so check the day before rather than turning up hopeful. The studios run class schedules; the spas run appointment books. Whichever you are calling, say what you want the hour for, because an hour of quiet and an hour of work on a bad shoulder are different bookings, and often different people.

Common questions

Is there beach yoga on Amelia Island?
Yes. More than one instructor here runs classes on the sand rather than in a studio, both community classes and private sessions. Because they are outdoors they move with the weather, and sunrise classes shift through the year as the sunrise does, so check the schedule the day before rather than assuming last week's time still holds.
What is a sound bath?
You lie down, usually for around an hour, while the practitioner plays singing bowls, gongs or chimes around the room. There is nothing to do and nothing to learn, which is the point of it: it is closer to a guided rest than to a yoga class. It is offered here alongside meditation rather than as a class of its own, so it tends to run as a scheduled event or a private booking rather than weekly.
What is the difference between a day spa and a massage therapist?
A day spa sells treatments, so you book a service from a menu and facials, body treatments and nails usually sit beside the massage. A massage therapist is the treatment itself, often with training aimed at a specific problem, and the appointment is the hour on the table. If you are working on an injury or a recurring pain, say so when you book, because it changes who you should see and how long you need.
